THE SCUMFROG, DAVID GAUSA & STATIC REVENGER ‘INTO THE DEEP’ [SUTILMX023]

It was November 2007 when, three friends, the Americans DENNIS WHITE (STATIC REVENGER), JESSE HOUK (THE SCUMFROG), and the Spaniard DAVID GAUSA, teamed up in the wonderful LOS ANGELES (USA), at the Mr. Revenger´s “operations-center” in North-Hollywood to be precise, to join their talent looking for something really original, smashing… As a result, a big number of “pre.masters” came up but, due to their perfectionism, didn´t see the light up to January 2008. The result was clear: A Dirty-House track, more than surprising and overwhelming! It waited for the MIAMI WMC, in March of the same year, looking for the Top International Deejays reaction and… the result couldn´t be better: PETE TONG was the first one supporting the Original Main Mix in his ESENTIAL SELECTION at BBC1 - UK, the show with the most listened show in the world! However, the project was not finished though… two big internationally renowned names were needed to take care of the remixes and complete the official release: PETER GELDERBLOM (Top Selling Artist in the UK - Netherlands) and GABI NEWMAN (BeatPort Top Downloads Artist - Spain) were asked to complete the pack with their musical vision, and once again…BINGO! Two remixes more than essential!!

With the assembled talent it's really hard not to get excited by this American/Spanish collaboration that finds The Scumfrog's near­trademark stark, and yet funky sound, the dominant factor. In the Original version it's a chunky house mind-enveloping journey into never-never land with equally eerie female vocal ad-libs complimenting the pulsating synth-lines and rasping basslines. Peter Gelderblom's remix strips the effects back to allow the tripped out vocals greater room to hypnotize, while Gabi Newman's version boarders on electro-pop and with a distinct '80s flavour.
